Description:

A Newcomb College Art Pottery Matte Glaze Gourd Form Vase, 1918, decorated by Sadie Irvine with daffodils, pink, green and blue underglaze, base marked with Newcomb cipher, decorator's mark, Joseph Meyer's potter's mark, and reg. no. JH46, height 8 5/8 in., diameter 5 3/4 in. E5000-7000 Note: The delicacy of shading and modeling, the sensitive placement of floral spikes and foliage, and the juxtaposition between green-shaded to pink leaves against the blue background make this vase an extremely fine example of the pink palette less commonly used at the Newcomb Pottery.
