A Pair of American "George Washington" Cast Iron Urns, mid-19th c., of campagna form with flared foliate lip above a lobed body featuring a bust of Washington within a laurel wreath, arched handles raised on a square plinth, height 25.5in., diameter 29.5in. E4000-6000 Note: These Washington portrait urns have been most commonly attributed to Chase Bros. (Boston, c. 1850) and J. W. Fiske (New York, c. 1868). An example is in the garden of Belmont Mansion, Nashville, Tennessee. Reference: Israel, Antique Garden Ornament, p. 149, pl. 3.2.
