A Pair of Belle Epoque Bronze Figures of Mercury and Venus, late 19th c., on identical cylindrical bases with bronze frieze bands representing putti engaged in painting and sculpture, between heavily molded bases and socles in dark ochre-colored Breccia marble, height 30.25in., length 32 in. E1500-2500 Note: the Mercury based on the sixteenth-century model by Giambologna, and the Venus recalling the same master's figure of Fortuna.
