A Pair of Carriage Lanterns, late 19th/early 20th c., Merts and Riddle, Ravenna, Ohio, labeled, height 22 in., width 8 in., depth 9 3/4 in., electrified Note: Merts and Riddle produced several varieties of hearses and coaches. The firm wwas established in 1831 as the Clark Bros. Carriage Company in 1861, two employees, Charles M. Merts and H.W. Riddle, purchased the company and renamed it Merts and Riddle. As late as the 1920's, the firm continued to mount large coach lamps on their hearses.
