A Pair of Chinese Export Armorial Porcelain Bowls, c. 1810, decorated for the American market in under and overglaze blue, with iron red and gilt enamel highlights, the intricately painted armorial shield encompassing the very stylized initials "MC" (possibly Mathew Carey, Irish-born American, c. 1760-1839, who is credited, among other accomplishments, with having significantly influenced the establishment of the United States Whig Party) with a blue and gilt decorated surrounding border, the scalloped rim bordered with a stylized blue band with gilt stars and gilt banding beneath, diameter 8 in.
