A Pair of Chinese Ivory Emperor and Empress Figures Astride Horses, Qianlong marks but probably early 20th c., each intricately detailed figure carved in mirror image of the other seated on a horse holding a sword, raised on a crescent shaped ivory plinth, each base incised with two character Qianlong mark, Emperor's sword with four character Qianlong mark, height 10 3/8 in. and 9 7/8 in. respectively, fitted wood stands, overall heights 11 3/4 in. and 11 1/8 in., storage boxes. Provenance: Natchez, MS Collection, acquired Rothschild's Antiques, New Orleans, LA, November 1970. Note : Small breaks and glue repair to feet and legs of Empress's horse.
