A Pair of Important Restauration Rosewood and Bois Clair Inlaid Fauteuils, c. 1830, by Georges-Alphonse Jacob-Desmalter (1799-1870), each bearing his stamp on underside of seat rail, arched and pierced upholstered back rest joined by scrolled arms, on saber legs.
- Notes: Note: Georges-Alphonse Jacob-Desmalter was the grandson of Georges Jacob and the son of François-Honoré-Georges Jacob-Desmalter. He continued the renowned family's cabinet workshop. Like his grandfather, Georges-Alphonse was commissioned to produce numerous pieces for French monarchs. These chairs relate stylistically to a set of side chairs sold as lot 296 in these rooms April 18, 2009 The lines are clean, severe and feature the bois clair inlay favored during the reign of Charles X.
