A Pair of Louis XVI Gilt and Patinated Bronze and Marble Two-Light Sphinx Candelabra, late 18th/early 19th c., the well-cast mythical creatures supporting finely modeled baskets issuing fruits, a central torchère, flanked by crane head curvilinear arms supporting finely chased candlecups with removable bobêches; the paneled oval bases of white marble were inset with reeded ormolu mounts (three missing), height 15 1/2 in., width 8 in., depth 3 in.
