A Pair of Newcomb College Art Pottery Matte Glaze Candlesticks, 1926, decorated by Anna Frances Simpson with a relief carved motif of lilies, blue, green and yellow underglaze, one with partial original paper label, the bases with Newcomb cipher, decorator's mark, Joseph Meyer's potter's mark, shape no. 232, and reg. no. PN7, height 7 1/8 in.

- Provenance : Descended in the family of Rose West Hastings. Born in New Orleans in 1889, Rose Brice West was raised by her grandparents, prominent local Judge A.G. Brice and Mary Bella Brice. West reigned as Queen of Carnival in 1911 In 1927 she married George Aubrey Hastings, a speech writer and administrative assistant to President Herbert Hoover.
