A Pair of Vargas Wax Figures of Fishermen, probably by Francisco Vargas' daughter, Concepcion (b. Mexico 1858, d. New Orleans 1933, active New Orleans 1879-1933), the hatted, barefoot male figure carrying a large basket of fish, a casting net around his shoulders, his "wet" pants rolled up to his knees, height 11 in., the barefoot female figure supporting a large fish-filled basket on her back and holding two fish in her left hand, height 10.75in., both on circular wood bases, together with another traditional Mexican wax figure of a woman in native costume with an infant on her back, both with glass eyes, height 9.875in.
