A Paul Revere Autograph Grouping, comprising a clipped signature affixed to page 184 of Longfellow¹s book, received by E. S. Atwood from Joseph Warren Revere, the great-grandson of Paul Revere; a gold badge of the society of Colonial Governors, presented by Horace F. Atwood, descendant of Governor Hinkley, last governor of the Massachusetts colony; a wax seal with monogram; a sterling ladle, date 1888, with monogram "A"; a set of 7 Gorham sterling spoons, dated 1885, with monogram "A"; and a copper seal marked with monogram "H. G. A."
- Notes: Note: A pencil inscription on the first free paper of the book reads "E. S. Atwood, Page 184. Genuine autograph of Paul Revere, given to me by his great-grandson Joseph Warren Revere, who was my "best man" at my first marriage. E. S. Atwood." The gold badge is accompanied by a typed note from Horace F. Atwood to Miss Helen Gailey Atwood, Denver, Colorado, dated from Rochester, NY, June, 13, 1921, stating, "Dear Bunnie: Have mailed to you today, by parcel post, a gold badge of the society of Colonial Governors. This badge belonged to my sister, who was a member of the society. Our descent from Governor Hinkley, the last governor of the Massachusetts colony, is direct and comes through my father¹s mother. You are about seven generations removed from him. I hardly think it a proper thing for you to wear this badge unless you should later become a member of the society. I put it into your hands as you are the only grand daughter by the name of Atwood. From your grand father, Horace F. Atwood."
