A Rare American Carved Mahogany Desk in the Modern Gothic Taste, c. 1881, designed by Leopold Eidlitz, made by Weller, Brown and Mesmer, Buffalo, New York, for the Assembly Chamber, N.Y. State Capitol, Albany, rectangular molded top inset with a leather writing surface over a fitted drawer and a front blind drawer bearing brass numerals 67, the shaped sides carved with a roundel, faux tenons and fronted with engaged columns on a stepped plinth with incurvate stretcher shelf, drawer interior bearing various penciled inscriptions and dates, height 29.124in., width 26.5in. , depth 23 .75in.
