  • Provenance: Provenanced with a group of seated furniture by John Henry Belter. The distinctive Restauration style of the bench is uniquely associated with New York cabinetmakers. Belter authoratively works from variable Restauration forms in his earliest years. It is interesting to note that the group of important Belter serpentine beds all follow the distinctive molded outline, rosewood field and suppressed scroll feet of this bench.
