A Rare American Classical Santo Dominguan Mahogany Metamorphic Table, c. 1825, Baltimore, as a center table the circular top with reeded edge tilts, as a breakfast or library table the top opens to receive a single leaf, raised on a ring-turned pedestal with a collar carved with 'pineapple' hatching, the four sabre legs with bold pointed reeds, on brass paw feet, height 28 in., diameter 36 in., extended 54 in. E5000-8000 Provenance: The estate of Miss Betty W. Whiting, a direct descendant of Betty Washington and Martha Washington. Secondary wood mahogany, the leaf is period, however probably not original, retains an old surface.
