A Rare American Cuban Mahogany Armoire in the Louis XV Taste, early 19th c., probably Louisiana or lower Mississippi River Valley, the arched bonnet top with molded cornice over a pair of paneled doors with fiche hinges opening to a shelved interior, shaped apron, cabriole legs, cherry secondary wood, height 91 inches, width 48 inches, depth 21 ½ inches. Note: The arched bonnet top, paneled doors, scalloped skirt and squat cabriole legs of this lot are very similar to those on a cherry and cypress armoire in the Matilda Stream collection illustrated in Poesch, "Furniture of the River Road Plantations in Louisiana," Magazine Antiques, June 1977, p. 1186, pl. I.
