A Rare American Federal Carved and Gilded Looking Glass, c. 1810-1825, the crest surmounted by a monumental spread winged eagle perched on rockwork, fishscale decoration, the coved circular frame with original mirror plate, the sides and base with applied foliate carving, height 48 in., diameter 25 1/2 in. Provenance: Descended in the family of Fredrick Rust Van Vechter, Jr., attorney at Rockefeller Center, New York, and installed in his childhood home, c. 1914, 528 Garden Street, Little Falls, New York and later in Rye, New York.
