Description:

A Rare American Neo-Grec "Centennial" Incised, Ebonized and Inlaid Walnut Fern Stand, c. 1876, New York, circular top inlaid with bust of George Washington, American eagle and shield, and dates "1776" and "1876"; bracket supports, turned standards and canted legs, height 28 1/2 in., diameter 20 in. Note: A rectangular inlaid walnut side table attributed to Kilian Bros. (New York, 1856-c.1880) and illustrated in Dubrow, Styles of American Furniture 1860-1960, p. 47 and also illustrated in Kimball's Book of Designs, 1876 has Centennial inlaid decoration very similar to that in lot 88.
