c. 1865, attributed to John Jelliff, Newark, N.J., crest mounted with bronze portrait medallion, in very good original condition, height 32 in., seat width 22 in. NOTE This chair is attributed to Jelliff on the basis of closely-related features found on Jelliff furniture illustrated in Century of Revivals, a Newark Museum publication, plates 37, 38, 43, and most notably, plate 39, which illustrates an identical female head arm support.
