A Rare American Rococo Carved and Laminated Rosewood Armchair, c. 1850-60, attributed to John Henry Belter, New York, in the pattern most often referred to as "Henry Clay", C scrolled back with floral crest, serpentine seat rail and cabriole legs with floral carving. Note : A chair attributed to Belter from the Manney collection nearly identical to that seen here is illustrated in Schwartz, Stanek and True.
