A Rare Colt's Patented Firearm Manufacturing Company Double Barrel 12Gauge Center Fire Shotgun, Hartford, CT., model of 1878 made for the Confederate Cavalry Lieutenant-Colonel Jones Stewart Hamilton and late Adjutant-General of Mississippi, with two extra Damascus barrels and fore ends presented in the original leather case monogrammed "J.S.H.", The shotgun having a walnut stock with slight green hue ending ina diamond-scored hard rubber butt with embossed oval Colt's insignia; the steel lock plate and action engraved with scenes of grouse, woodcocks, pointers, setters, and a hunter smoking a pipe under a tree with a checkered pistol grip, serial number 15972, Colt's finest grade shotgun, note: old crack and repair at the small of the stock, missing the crest from name plate, dimensions of leather case height 9in., width 34 in., depth 4.5in., shotgun approx. 46 in.
