A Rare Louisiana Mahogany Petite Armoire, early 19th c., having a cove-molded cornice with reeded band, the crotch veneered frieze with reeded banding below, flush paneled doors with reeded center stile, scalloped base on cabriole banded legs, the interior retaining original shelves and belt of drawers, height 54 1/2 in., width 43 in., depth 15 1/2 in. Notes: The use of flush panels for the doors and the distinctive "hoof" feet of this armoire exhibit the influence of French cabinetmaking transmitted through the Caribbean into North America.
