A Rare Pair of American Art Furniture Mahogany Side Chairs, late 19th c., one rear seat rail stamped "Wm. White, Boston", the other stamped "White", the design antecedents are taken from "Lancashire" chairs, each incorporating turned stiles and splats, centered by oblong lozenges, the woven rush seat raised on ringed-turned legs joined by stretchers, elongated spherule feet, height 49 in.

  • Notes: Note: William White is listed in the Boston City Directories from 1857-1903 as a chair maker at 885 Washington St., the heart of the Boston cabinet making trade.
