A Rare Set of Four Innovative American Walnut and Laminated Sidechairs, bearing the incised stamp of "Gardner's patent May 21, '72 & June 3, '73" on back, each arched top rail above a perforated back and seat rest decorated in geometric designs, the seat rail bordered in leather fringe, the turned legs joined by stretchers. E500/750 Note: Gardner's veneered and perforated chair won several awards, including a bronze metal at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia in 1874.
