A Rare Set of Four Paris Porcelain Cabinet Plates, c. 1835, each signed in full "Boyer rue de la Paix" in gold on reverse, impressed with form number "L 2", and each exquisitely hand-painted over the entire well with a different landscape featuring a central figure: (1 "A Maiden Making a Vow of Love Before a Statue of Cupid", in the style of Fragonard or Hubert Robert; (2) "A Court Lady en negligee, Garlanding a Lamb", as an allegory of Meekness; (3) "A Maid Discovering Birds Flown from their Empty Cages", in the style of Greuze; and (4) "A Young Lad Mourning the Deaths of Songbirds", also in the manner of Greuze; each 95-8 in diameter. E2500-3500 Note: Boyer took over the business of one of the best-known Paris porcelain makers, Feuillet, at 18-20 rue de la Paix, in 1834.
