Lot 385
A Set of Eight American Renaissance Carved Oak Dining Chairs, late 19th c., attributed to R.J. Horner, New York, comprised of two armchairs and six side chairs, foliate scrolled crest rail centering a grotesque mask, the armchairs with lion's mask arm terminals, reeded seat rails, turned, reeded and blocked legs ending in paw feet, retaining original finish, armchair height 48 in. Note: A carved oak dining room suite attributed to R.J. Horner with chairs carved with a North Wind mask crest, lion head arm supports and carved stiles very similar to those on lot 385 was sold in Neal Auction Company's salesroom as lot 481 on December 6, 2000.
