A Set of Six Louis XV Carved Fruitwood Fauteuils, each with arched molded crest, acanthus-carved arms, serpentine scalloped seat rail, acanthus-carved knees, ending in cabriole legs, five stamped "Pere Gourdin". E70000/90000 Note: Jean Gourdin became maitre menuisier around 1715. The stamp "Pere Gourdin" was used by him at the same timeas his sons were active and can be dated, therefore, to around 1748-50 It was possible that prior to this date and prior to the law of 1743,he used the abbreviated stamp I.G. found on some seat furniture attributed to Gourdin. Jean Gourdin, called Pere Gourdin, was recorded in Paris 1737-1763.
