A Set of Six Sterling Silver Dessert Plates, possibly Italian, London import marks for 1936, each rim with applied Ethiopian National seal and also engraved in script 'Haile Selassie I/London/1938', shaped molded edge with shells and foliage at intervals, diameter 9.875 in., weight 107 troy ozs. 3 dwts. E2000-3000 Provenance: From the collection of Texas historian Walter Prescott Webb (1888-1963), who according to family history, acquired them from Emperor Haile Selassie in 1942, when Webb was Harmsworth Professor of History at Oxford University and his family neighbored Selassie in a London hotel.
