A Sierra Leone Carved Stone Nomoli or Pomdo Figure, carved as a female seated on a circular base with a large protruding belly and large sagging breasts, grasping a foot in each extended arm, her face with high round eyes under arched brows, a small nose and a protruding chin with closed lips, height 7 1/2 in.
PLEASE NOTE: Provenance: Acquired by William W. Hodges of Kokomo, IN, mid 1960s, while developing teacher training schools at the University of Njala, Sierra Leone.
