A Sierra Leone Mende Carved Wood Helmet Mask, hollow domed form, the delicate facial features with slit eyes supported on a three-ringed neck and surmounted by a three-lobed crested coiffure terminating in the center with a ring finial, height 17 1/2 in.
PLEASE NOTE: Provenance: Acquired by William W. Hodges of Kokomo, IN, mid 1960s, while developing teacher training schools at the University of Njala, Sierra Leone.
