A Southern Walnut and Mahogany Sideboard, c. 1820- 1840, probably Kentucky or Tennessee, three frieze drawers over four mahogany panelled doors, shelved interior, extensive yellow pine secondary wood height 49in., width 71in., depth 25in. E2000-3000 Provenance: This sideboard was acquired at Windemere, Charlotte County, Va, the familyseat of the William Sydnor Barksdale family. Revolutionary War Major Peter Barksdale settled in Halifax County, Va in the late 18th c. andbuilt Roughville there. In the 19th c., the Barksdale family built another Halifax County house, Bally Rag.
