A Tall Staffordshire Figure of "Guiseppe Garibaldi", c. 1864, standing with sword, legs crossed beside a marbelized column, with scroll in one hand and long blue sash inscribed "Garibaldi" in gilt on ovoid base, partially painted and molded verso, height 19.5in. E700/900 Note: Garibaldi, Italian soldier and patriot, visited England in 1864, and was greeted with enthusiasm. Sixteen different versions of him were issued that year.
