A U.S. Model 1852 Naval Officer's Sword and Scabbard by Tiffany, the 29 in. blade etched with anchors, eagle, spears and marked 'Tiffany & Company, New York, Warranted to Cut, Wrought Iron, [and] PDL (Paul D. Luneschloss)', the quillon, knuckle bow and drag modeled after dolphins, pommel with eagle and stars, sharkskin and wire grip, original leather scabbard, under the drag is an old label from the previous owner, Edward LaSalle, Highland Mills, N.Y. Provenance: According to oral history, William H. Yeaton, who was acting master's mate on the U.S.S. Kearsarge during its engagement of the C.S.S. Alabama, owned the sword. It was passed down to Edward LaSalle, Yeaton's grandson, and acquired from him by the current owner.
