A Very Fine American Rococo Carved Rosewood Bed, c. 1850-1860, New York, reticulated crest over arched headboard with reeded ball finials marked "#213", scrolled deep rails, conforming footboard, height 62 in., length 78 in., width 60 in.
- Notes: Note: The finely carved scrolls, broken arch, cabochon, and reticulation of the crest on this bed are indicative of the workshop of Alexander Roux. Similar carved scrolls appear on a bedroom suite labeled by Roux sold by Neal Auction Company as lot 593, November 1988. A bed, also labeled by Roux, with related carved elements is part of the original furnishings of the Henry Shaw House, St. Louis. Reference: Hauserman.
