A Good Vintage Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk, c. 1928, serial #745669, logo cloth, with brass hardware, wood slats, void interior, on brass squat wheels, painted monogram "L.F.C./Cooperstown, N.Y.", with remnants of ship labels, height 19 1/2 in., width 35 3/4 in., depth 20 in . Provenance: Estate of James Fenimore Cooper IV. Note: The monogram on this trunk belongs to Linn Fenimore Cooper (b. 1899, Albany, NY - d. 1959, Sibu Sarawak, East Malasia), son of James Fenimore and Susan Cooper. A noted humanitarian and doctor, Cooper attended Yale and went to Harvard Medical School and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He practiced medicine in Washington, D.C. and overseas in Asia, England and Africa, with a stint as lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps. He is buri, Cooperstown, NY.
