Adele Rogers (American/Florida, b. 1861), "The Dunes at East Palatka, Sunset", oil on canvasboard, signed and dated "1920" or "1926", sight 13 1/4 in. x 13 1/4 in. E1000-1500 Note: Rogers studied under American Impressionist and founder of the Cape Cod School, Charles Webster Hawthorne, famous for his method of teaching en plein aire. As a result of Hawthorne's work and reputation, the native fishing village was transformed into an international artist's colony, attracting such luminaries as George Ault, Henry Demuth, Childe Hassam and Ben Shahn. Rogers later painted in Florida and was a member of the St. Augustine Art Club.
