A Fine New Orleans Coin Silver "Medallion" Presentation Cup, c. 1865-1869, Adolphe Himmel, wc. New Orleans 1852-1877, for A.B. Griswold & Co., 1865-1906, marked "A.B.GRISWOLD&Co./N.O.-H", engraved "Lizzie Garner", tapered form with helmeted medallion, chased band of foliate scroll decoration in the Renaissance taste, Greek key foot rim, angular handle, height 4 in., weight 4.88 troy ozs Note: Lizzie Garner (1865-1874) was the daughter of Ann Elizabeth Lewis Wynn (1834-1916) and General George Gibson Garner, C.S.A. (1830-1877) of New Orleans and Iberville Parish. Garner built the stately St. Charles Avenue home that is now the Orleans Club. Lizzie Garner is buried in historic Lafayette Cemetery #1. A portrait of Ann Elizabeth Lewis Wynn as a child, painted by C.R. Parker (active New Orleans 1826-1848), was sold in these rooms, October 6, 2007, as lot 517.
