After Dominic Serres (French, 1719-1793), "A Perspective View of Pensacola", hand-colored copper-plate engraving by John Hinton for the Universal Magazine, London, 1747, the view numbered with key below showing: the Governor's House, the Commandant's House, a well, the fort, the church and a bungo, image 4 7-8 in. x 93/4 in. E200-300 Note: At the time this view was published, Pensacola was still Spanish territory. This changed in 1763, when Britain gained control of Florida in exchange for Havana, Cuba. Britain split Florida into East and West, with Pensacola as the seat of West Florida.
