Description:

After Emmanuel Fremiet (French, 1824-1910), c. 1860, "A Frog Tied to a Lotus Pad in the Form of a Desk Seal", a verte patinated bronze, signed at stem and numbered 347, the seal monogrammed "T.C.", height 4.5in., width 1.625in., depth 1.125in. E400/600 Note: This desk seal is depicted in Animals in Bronze by Christopher Payne and demonstrates the skill in which Fremiet rendered realistic detail. Known for his monumental works like his statue of Jeanne d'Arc in the Place de Pyramides, Paris, and numerous sculptures of large animals, this frog is a rare example of his smaller sculpture.
