E500-750 Note: In the early 1700s, the South Carolina community of Charles Town (today Charleston) was plagued by continuous raids and plundering by pirates including Stede Bonnet, Blackbeard and Charles Vane. Colonel William Rhett was sent by Governor Robert Johnson to capture and thwart the efforts of the pirates.
