After John Francis Renault, drawn by Peter C. Verger (active in New York, 1795-97), "Triumph of Liberty, Dedicated to its Defenders in America", engraving, sheet size 14 in. x 19 1/2 in., unframed. E700- 900 Provenance: Sotheby's New York, Important Americana, January 18, 2002, lot 182. Note: In this scene Liberty is on top of a column, with the female figures of Justice, Peace and Plenty below. In the center of the image are the American flag and eagle. The Constitution is represented as a book of law. A group of kings turn in horror when confronted with the triumph of Liberty.
