One of Francisco's sons, Louis, was a partner in the 1833 development of the Faubourg Bouligny, now the area between General Taylor and Upperline Streets in New Orleans. Another son, planter-soldier Ursin Bouligny, operated a plantation in Plaquemines Parish with his brother Louis from 1811-1829 It is Ursin Bouligny who is named as one of the original New Orleans subscribers for Audubon's Birds of America Literature: A Dictionary of Louisiana Biography, 1988, Louisiana Historical Association.
