Description:

After Sir Joshua Reynolds (British, 1723-1792), "Self-Portrait with a Bust of Michelangelo", oil on canvas, unsigned, 50 1/2 in. x 40 1/2 in., in an antique carved and gilded frame. Note: This modern canvas is a same-size copy of the well-known "Self-Portrait" by Reynolds, of c. 1780, in the Royal Academy of Arts, London. That original, painted on wood panel, shows the first President of the R.A. in the robes of a Doctor of Laws, conferred upon Reynolds in 1773 by the University of Oxford.
