A Fine American Carved Rosewood Armoire, mid-19th c., probably New Orleans, ogee cornice over paneled doors, shelf interior with a medial belt of drawers, plinth base, molded feet, the whole with distinctive beaded molding, height 99 in., width 62 in., depth 26 3/4 in Note: The fixed case construction and the use of luxurious details such as the brass door stile and maple interior of this armoire recall the furniture of New Orleans purveyor Prudent Mallard. Moreover, the beaded molding framing the doors and the distinctive bracket feet on this example relate closely to an armoire also linked to the Mallard warerooms from a home at 133 4th Street, New Orleans and sold by Neal Auction Company as lot 894 October 11, 2008.
