An American Classical Carved Mahogany Armchair, early 19th c., Philadelphia, scrolled acanthus leaves above tablet crest rail, stiles with volute finials, slat centering rosette, scrolled arms, trapezoidal seat, beaded front seat rail, saber legs with lotus leaves. Note: The collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art include a very similar side chair, which is illustrated and discussed in Allison Boor et al, Philadelphia Empire Furniture, p. 311
