Description:

American Forty-Six Star Flag, Signed by the Members of Second Regiment, Louisiana Volunteer Infantry, 1908, printed colors on silk, with manuscript signatures, in ink, of 27 members of the 2nd LA Volunteer Infantry, including Colonel Elmer E. Wood, 11 in. x 18 in., two-sided glass frame Note: The 2nd Louisiana Volunteer Infantry mustered into service May, 1898 with 46 officers and 960 enlisted men. After movements to Mobile, Miami, Jacksonville and Savannah, where they were visited by President McKinley, they sailed on the ship Mobile, arriving in Cuba on December 27, 1898. Although not seeing battle, they gained acclaim by being among the first soldiers to march into Havana, and mustered out April 18, 1899. The flag was probably signed during a ceremony for the 10th anniversary of their service.
