E12000/18000 Note: The area in and around Clear Lake, California was a popular place to paint for a number of artists working in the second half of the 19th century. Among those known to have painted scenes of Clear Lake and its environs are Thomas Hill, Meyer Straus, Ransom Holdredge, William Keith and Juan Wandesforde. While the authorship of this monumental, magnificently detailed landscape offered here is as yet unknown, the talent expressed by the painter places them among the best of this period. Provenance: A noted Southwest Louisiana family.
