American School, 19th c., "Portrait of Franklin Brown (1807-1889)", oil on canvas laid on board, unsigned, typewritten note "Portrait of Franklin Brown, New York City lawyer, younger brother of Amos H. Brown and great-uncle of Mary Susan Brown. Portrait painted in the 1820's possibly by Rembrandt Peale" en verso, accompanied by two handwritten notes, 5 1/2 in. x 5 in., in a modern giltwood frame.
