An American 13-Inch Celestial Table Globe, 1826, by James Wilson, Albany, NY, the globe set in brass meridian, the horizon band engraved paper calendar and zodiac, and raised on a maple stand with four turned legs joined by X-form cross stretchers, ending in turned feet, the constellation figures well delineated and colored in tones of pink, light blue, and green, and the oval cartouche reading, "A NEW AMERICAN CELESTIAL GLOBE containing the positions of nearly 5000 Stars, Clusters, Nebulae & Carefully compil'd & laid down from the latest & most approv'd astronomical tables reduced to the present time BY J. WILSON & SONS, 1826, ALBANY. ST. N.Y.", height 11 in., diameter 18 in. E4000-6000 Note: James Wilson (1763-1855), a Bradford, Vermont farmer and blacksmith by trade, was America's first globe maker.
