An American Aesthetic Brass and Mixed Metals Pedestal Jewel Casket, c. 1885, attributed to Charles Parker Co., (Meriden, Connecticut 1832-1957) the square top inset with tapestry panel opening to a silk-lined interior sides with lion masks and floral sprays on hammered copper panels, pointed arch apron, outswept tubular legs ending in spherules, height 13 1/2 in., width 17 1/2 in., depth 17 1/2 in. Note: This pedestal casket is nearly identical to a c. 1885 pedestal by the Charles Parker Co. (Meriden 1832-1957) in the Mimi Findlay collection, and similar to a Parker table at the Dallas Museum of Art. A third pedestal, also similar to this lot, sold as lot 2501 February 7, 2007 at Doyle's in New York for £15,600.
