An American Aesthetic Carved Walnut Secretaire Abattant, late 19th c., Philadelphia, with turned spindle gallery above drawers spaced by sawtooth moldings, the fall front with floral carved raised panel, conforming cupboards and drawer, flanked by engaged fluted columns, height 63.5 in., width 31.5 in., depth 14in E1500-2500 Note: The treatment of the carved bottom drawer pull is identical to a Pabst walnut desk in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, illustrated in Mary Madigan Nineteenth Century Furniture: Innovation, Revival and Reform, Roundtable Press, 1982 p 37.
